Always keep dreaming
June 1st, 2021 I was able to stop working and doing business after 42 years, and I immediately started following the dream. With brother Onno and his campervan with trailer tent behind it, we left to explore the Baltic states.
After extensive research of googlemaps and into climate data, the first destination already seemed very promising in the east of Lithuania, with a continental climate and many lakes, the international airport at a distance of 67 km and easily accessible.
We arrived at Obioliusala, a nice holiday park with cottages and a campsite on a beautiful island in a fantastic lake with a Dutch owner; which made any questions I had easier it seemed to me.
After having spent a lot of time on maps I thought that a large lake in this neighbourhood would be suitable, in reality proportions turned out to be different and it turned out the lake around Apple island (photos) would be sufficient to create a 2.5 km, 5 km and 10 km track and was close enough to help in case of calamities.
After a conversation with Bas (the owner) it appeared that collaboration was possible and that there was some land (photo) for sale next to the lake, I thought about it for a while and then bought it.
At the moment I am realising 3 sustainable A++ holiday homes on my land, wood construction, super insulated, tripple glass, heat pump and a wood burner. 2 bedrooms, bathroom, living room, kitchen with all amenities and a large covered terrace.
On the island itself there are several nice houses available for rent. There is a restaurant with covered terraces, a receptionarea and playgrounds.

The natural surroundings and beautifull landscape with undulating slopes up to 30 meters high rising directly from the lake, covered with a forest of mixed trees.
It is often very quiet (no cars, planes, trains, etc) so the decision to settle here was not difficult.
It is almost unspoiled here, the bittern, cranes, birds of prey, storks, several woodpeckers and many more birds that are unknown to me, golden dragonflies, amphibians, lizards, moose, roe deer, etc, and then the trees and flowers. At spring, the birdsong and dawnchorus is overwhelming.
In short, come and skate in the winter and see deer and the like walking on the ice at full moon, or book for any other season that is equally enchanting.
Cheap flights (2.5 hours) from Eindhoven or Schiphol direct to Vilnius int airport.
We arrange transfers after consultation, car rental at the airport is possible and very affordable. And otherwise from Amsterdam is only a 1720 km drive.
I can't tell you yet exactly what the cost will be, but the idea is a good price/quality ratio. We are looking forward to meet you in the near future.
